3-12-03 Our last upstream provider went out of business and was bought out by Covad. Consequently, out IP range has changed. Everything should be returning to normal now. Email should be working again shortly. Thank you for your patience. There is more info in the MOTD when you log in.
We are back up. Following a lightning strike on the 5th of June, equipment was destroyed. All of the issues weren't resovled until today, the 26th of June. We offer our sincerest apologies for all of the inconvenience this has caused.
Two days after September 11th, when it began to rain in NYC early in the morning, vital underground switch equipment under the World Trade Center that had survived the collapse, was damaged, having been exposed to the elements. This created large network outages for much of NY, NJ and surrounding areas for our upstream provider (Ardent Communications, formerly CAIS Internet) and presumably for many other providers as well, considering the WTC was a major telecommunications backbone hub.
As such, we lost network connectivity from that point on until the 9th of October. We are sincerely sorry for all inconveniences this caused to our users. Anyone wishing to cancel their account or who has already done so but was unable to notify us, please contact admin@erudition.net to let us know and we'll arrange some sort of partial refund arrangement, depending on how much of the paid period you received service.
For those of you wishing to stay, we will be adding a month's worth of service for free to compensate for the loss in service.
We aren't free and clear yet, as reverse DNS issues for our IPs have yet to be resolved. IMPORTANT NOTE: Our IP range has CHANGED. You will need to update all of your bots/ircds to reflect this. You can lookup the old vhosts to check their new IPs. If you're still not sure what it should be, contact us, but keep in mind, vhosts will not be working for the next few days.
